Tomorrow, September 20, is National Voter Registration Day. The best way to celebrate is to check on your voter registration — have you moved recently? — and make a voting plan for the November 8 election.

Election clerks deal with more frivolous requests than they used to. We were recently quoted in the Maine Monitor, speaking about the added stress clerks face in the era of rampant election misinformation. The "Big Lie" has been slow to trickle up into Maine, but it's here.

Happy labor day! Voting rights and worker's rights have a shared and long history. Let's celebrate activists past and present who have  sacrificed and contributed to these movements so that we can create a more equitable future.

Here's our next Volunteer Blitz with plenty of opportunities to work with the League. Summer's almost over, pumpkin spice products are making their annual appearance, and election season is quickly approaching. Let's do this!

Towns across Maine will have an election on Tuesday, November 8, which means the League of Women Voters is prepping for the election season. To keep our members and community informed, we're launching a limited weekly series on election updates.

These are unprecedented times. We’ve heard from a lot of people who feel powerless, overwhelmed, scared and demoralized by the events of the last few months. Calls to vote can ring hollow, but we can't give up.
