Racial Justice & Equity Team Introductory Meeting

Join the newly formed Racial Justice & Equity Team for an introductory meeting to discuss our advocacy priorities for this legislative session!

In this introductory meeting, we will provide an overview of the racial justice and equity related bills that Democracy Maine is advocating for this session. These include bills to: address prison gerrymandering, recognize tribal sovereignty, strengthen Wabanaki studies in Maine Schools, amend the state constitution to publish treaty obligations, and others.

We will discuss the process for our advocacy on these bills, which involves participating in coalitions with stakeholders and following their guidance to mobilize our members and volunteers in support. Part of that process also involves educating our members and volunteers on these issues and so the Racial Justice & Equity Team will start planning for at least one webinar to educate members and volunteers on Wabanaki legislative topics.
